"BassO " Lures started out as a hobby. The demand grew so rapidly that within one year it became a full-time project.By 1974, "BassO" lures had 7 different models in 36 color patterns. Hundreds were sold to fisherman in Tennessee, Mississippi, and Arkansas.
The success of the lures was so phenomenal that by 1975, 14 top professional bass fisherman in the United States were buying and winning tournaments with "Basso" crank baits.
"BassO" lures achieved such success that in 1976, Smithwick Lure Company of Shreveport, La, bought 4 models and produced them under the name "Rattlin Balsa Jack." During the same year, "Basso" lures became available as a made to order item and are still available in that format.
